First Coast’s Finest Beach

Jax Beach’ slogan: “First Coast’s Finest Beach” Read on to find out why:

Jacksonville Beach, the largest of the Jax beaches, has been claimed by the French Huguenots, the Spanish, and the English in years gone by. But today’s Jacksonville Beach is one of Florida’s finest and has a lot going for it!

While many long-time residents might miss the exciting boardwalk days (all the way back to 1915 when there were dance halls, boxing rings, rides, and other entertainment), and the days when you could drive on our beautiful beach, Jax Beach has come a long way and is bringing sophistication and modern fun along with it.

Jacksonville Beach is eight miles in area and boasts a population of roughly 23,000 people. We also enjoy a robust tourist trade, especially in the summer and during spring breaks. And no wonder! With a quieter beach scene than our neighbors further south, but also a growing food scene, nice hotels, fun music venues and plenty to do, Jacksonville Beach and its surrounding beach communities offer a great getaway. Here are a few highlights:

Food:

·       Fine dining is always on tap here, with established venues and new ones coming all the time. Think Eleven South or Marker 32 just across the bridge for great seafood. Dwight’s Bistro is a gem of a steak restaurant. And the newer O-ku boasts world class sushi.

·       But you don’t need white tablecloths to enjoy the food scene. With everything from Irish pubs to taco stands to fresh-off-the-boat places like Dockside, we’ve got it all.

·       And, of course, everyone in the greater Jacksonville area can point you toward Angie’s Subs and TacoLu!

Hotels:

·       Casa Marina is proudly on the register of Historic Hotels of America. 23 gorgeous rooms – and some of them are even rumored to be haunted…

·       And don’t miss our newest hotels like Element by Westin and The Springhill Suites by Marriott. The Springhill is oceanfront, overlooks the pier and the boardwalk, AND has a nice bar with beach view seating.

What to do here? In addition to world-class fishing, surfing, golfing, tennis, and beach fun…

·       We have a local legend of a water park in Adventure Landing that includes water slides, kart racing, and mini golf.

·       Great local festivals and music events at The Seawalk Pavilion.

·       The Sea and Sky Spectacular, featuring The Blue Angels.

·       And a holiday favorite called Deck the Chairs featuring 60 decorated lifeguard chairs AND promoting children’s art programs and education.

Jacksonville Beach just might BE the first coast’s finest beach! If you live in Jax Beach, please comment below, and tell us why you love it!
